Just a quick post to wrap-up the race reports for 2014. Kenny, Lisa and Hazel all raced at the Reindeer Run a few weeks ago. The race went well for Kenny, who won and Lisa who ran a PPR by several seconds. The race did not go as well for Hazel who was plowed over in the first few meters by a grown-up. Luckily she is a tough cookie and is still excited to run her next race (as long as I tell everyone to be careful before it starts). Results Here.

Too Happy

Next up was the Holiday Classic/USATF-Niagara Indoor Championship. The day started off a bit rough with Adam DNFing in the 5000m and Dave having an off day. Kraig however, was happy with his 5000m performance of 18:55. Things took a turn for the worse though, when the officials combined the men and women’s 3000m causing Andy to miss his start. Luckily we were able to put a nice cap on the day by sweeping the Messenger Mile.

Roadkill Sweep

The Messenger Mile is a masters race (opened to 30 and up this year) in honor of Roger Messenger who killed in a car accident while out on a training ride. I was joined in the race by Josh Williams and Juan Martinez.  I was using this race as a tune up for the Hartshorne Mile in late January, but even as a tune-up my goal was about 6 seconds faster than I ended up running.

In a somewhat lighter than usual field we took the top 3 spots

1st Me 4:45

2nd Juan 4:56

3rd Josh W 5:03

Results here.

See you in the New Year!
