Upstate Series Race #1

Roadkill Racing Cross Country Team

RKR took 4th place out of 7 teams at the first race in the Upstate Cross Country Series, which was held at Mendon Ponds, scoring 83 points.  It was a fantastic day to race, and the course while challenging was a true cross country course with lots of steep ups and down and a good mix of trails and fields.  We were led by Tyle Stelzig who finished 13th overall in a time of 16:49 followed closely by Rob Castor (17:01) and Mike Insler (17:05).  Travis Kroot (17:37) and myself (17:50) rounded out the top 5 scoring positions with Chanse Hungerford (18:06) and Ryan Burke (19:08) displacing.

It was a solid start for team I think will only grow stronger as the season progresses.  With a number of us either coming off recently hard races, or no races for a long time, we can only improve as we move into the next race in Buffalo October 10.  The next race is very flat 6k on Grand Island just outside of Buffalo.

  1. Good start for RKR! I was wondering how much racing a really hard half marathon the week before would effect your xc race. It takes at least 2-3 weeks to recover from an effort like you had at the Classic.
